Prestressed Anchoring

Rock Anchors are proposed to resist the uplift force that might be induced on the foundations due to hydrostatic pressures, wind loads etc or to control the tilting or buckling of Piles / Diaphragm Walls in case of shoring systems for resisting active and passive earth pressures. Rock anchors are basically of two kinds:

a) Passive Rock Anchors
b) Prestressed Rock Anchors

Anchors are installed by drilling a hole of suitable diameter, installing H.T. Steel Strands or bent up bar in the hole, cleaning the hole and then grouting the hole as per specifications laid down by the designer. Prestressed anchors are then stressed and locked by bearing plates and wedges to required capacity
